The Jaguar ‘150’ was the most refined XK yet. The majority of updates focused on the exterior and interior. However, the addition of disc brakes was also a major advancement.The XK150 was launched in May 1957 and initially came in a choice of FHC and DHC body styles. An OTS Roadster joined the line up ten months later in March 1958. From October 1959, Jaguar also offered a larger 3.8-litre engine which, like the 3.4, came in several alternative states of tune.In addition to the XK150, Jaguar’s product line included the Mark 1 Saloon which they had produced since 1955. Like the D-type sports racing car, the Mk1 was built around an advanced steel monocoque bodyshell. The XK150’s eventual replacement, the fabled E-type, would follow suit in this regard.
This XK150 is in fantastic condition and is a highly finished restored example of a British classic. Finished in Blue paintwork with Grey leather interior, an excellent combination. This is a matching numbers example, original RHD UK car, 3.4 engine, original colour combination and original number plate. The 150 was restored by Rectory Classics in 2004. The total cost of the restoration was £107,097.28, this is detailed with invoices and photographs. Since the restoration a further circa £40,380.98 has been spend on the car in maintenance and upgrades, such as brakes, 5 speed gearbox (original with car) and switchable power steering. A total of circa £147,478.26 has been spend over time on the XK150, and she presents in excellent condition today.
The history file contains restoration invoices from Rectory Classics. Various invoices/bills from Twyford Moors, Bill Lawrence and Son, Barham’s and other specialists. Detailed photographs of the restoration and once complete, V5 log book, old Mot’s and old tax discs. The car also comes with its original gearbox and other small original parts. Tools and Jack are also included and are shown in the pictures. To conclude a stunning example, an amazing drivers car with the correct upgrades. She is used and driven regularly by the current vendor and is a reluctant sale. I truly believe that given the cost of the restoration and the maintenance/upgrades that have been spend over the years, she is well priced and a great investment for the future.
